In the light of Trump, what future do we see for NATO? I am not optimistic

That's a big question.....and one that sweeps up the UK and Norway into the discussion (as it would also the likes of Turkey) if you want to drop NATO.
In fact moving on from NATO is a highly provocative and potentially destabilising act. For those who are not in this EU but do rely on NATO it's a deeply disturbing move.
Trump is...well lets say one shouldn't jump to conclusions yet. I know there has been a lot of rhetoric over in the US, but there always is during Presidential elections and frankly it's not the same as actual behaviour internationally.

I really don't want to abandon NATO. I am afraid the US will.

I don't see that happening yet, but I can see the US not prioritising Europe. After all the UK alone is a bigger economy than Russia, so quite why Europe 'needs' the US to protect it is really a sign or European states piggybacking on the US to avoid having to spend on their own military forces.
