So at the moment the EU has a mix of P3 Orion, and Atlantique. With the US stomping ahead with the P8.
Either the EU fosues on a new MPA type using say the Airbus type used for tankers, or it has to accept someone elses airframe and possibly it's internal systems.
However, here is scope for say a deal with Japan. Their effort is much more focused on the role and has potential to be part of a package of deals to build a closer relationship with a key ally in the Far East.
There is also the issue of a smaller, cheaper MPA for use over shallow waters, which might offset extre-Europa purchase of the large MPA.

Kinda my thinking. High end the P1 is my dream machine. Not sure that is swingable politically. Or Swordfish/GlobalEye in the C1 airframe? All the other ones suffer from not being optimised for low level - low speed. The P1 has custom engines, we should probably reengine it with the relevant RR/BMW ones
Low end I'd go with the Avanti MPA, which can also double as ISTAR/SIGINT platform.
